CRF H-beam trial loading instrumentation |
An H-section beam, made from carbon fibres (product of CRD Group’s research and development team), was tested in a four point bending trial loading. To cover the needs of the test FBG sensors were placed on the beam’s surfaces.
The first test was conducted on April 2010. A rough model of an H-beam was submitted to a four point bending trial loading. The bottom surface of the beam was instrumented with a CRD-patch sensor.

The second test was conducted on Mai 2010. A refined model of the H-beam was submitted to a four point bending trial loading. Both the top and bottom surfaces of the beam were instrumented with CRD-patch sensors. The accumulated data verifies the symmetry of the tension/ compression strains of the surfaces.
